TranSTEP aims to integrate different perspectives in the assessment of emerging technologies by supporting a dialogue between different actors. The process is initiated by a group designated by the problem owner. This initiating group convenes a secretariat, who is responsible for defining and convening a TranSTEP group. The work of the TranSTEP group starts with situation analysis, a central element of the TranSTEP process that informs and is informed by the subsequent stages of method reflection, assessment review, potentially undertaking new assessments, and ends with integration of results. The process closes with the production of recommendations with a focus on policy-making.
